When the state hospital laid out the beautiful beach promenade between the gardens and the harbour, they found this small spring, which goes by the name the Spring of the Princess – named after the duke’s daughter, Princess Caroline Amalie. She allegedly drank from the spring, made a wish to become Queen of Denmark – and her wish came true!
